David has worked as a Management Consultant and as a Director in both the public and private sectors, with considerable experience in creating and managing change in both. A Marketing Professional by background, David has blended this commercial expertise with a passion for performance and how to take it to the highest level through integrated OD programmes. The result is an ability to help individuals, teams and organisations do great things for their customers, their staff and their share/stake holders, working as a performance advisor, change manager, facilitator or coach.
His overriding focus is on “the customer” and how you create organisations that deliver consistently beyond the customer’s expectations. He doesn't just see this as being about customer service in the traditional sense. To David, it is also about linking your Marketing and Organisation Development agendas to create an exceptional experience for both your customers and your people. And so reinforcing your Brand and what it stands for by matching what your people actually do with how you are wanting to be seen.
As a coach, David’s focus is on results. What is the organisation setting out to achieve and what are they looking for from the person in question to get there? Then, how do his or her goals and capabilities stack up and what therefore is their development challenge? David’s clients like this action orientated, performance driven approach and the way that he stimulates creative strategic thinking to arrive at solutions. They feel stretched and challenged yet stimulated and supported.
His approach is similar as a consultant, looking at the organisation and its leadership in the same way as he would look at an individual. In both cases, while his extensive experience has given him proficiency in tried and tested techniques, he believes that winning means doing something that has not been done before and therefore requires ceativity and breaking new ground. If its not uncomfortable, then we are probably doing what has taken us to where we are rather than doing what is needed to take us to where we want to be.
His client list over the years includes many household names from Sony to Microsoft and Dulux to McArthurGlen. More recently he has worked with Upside Energy; Five Arrows (the leasing arm of Rothschilds); Miele; the Sports and Recreation Alliance; GSK and Biogen Idec, CDM and in several parts of the NHS. He is also a Non-Executive Director of a Social Enterprise – First Community Health and Care CIC.
A graduate from Cambridge, and in the Marketing Programme at the London Business School, David is accredited in the use of Hogan Psychometrics and the Leadership Versatility Index.
